You came, you saw, you shopped.
Is that all there is???
No, there is much more to it than that. So much more.
The beauty of this area is in its natural resources and its people. Just look around you.
Do you realize how fortunate you are to be in such an incredibly beautiful location? Two great rivers on either side of Orting join together and create one of the most fertile areas in the State of Washington. Tucked between steep hillsides, the valley produces a variety of products that are enjoyed all over the country, and even overseas.
The View - oh the view! Mount Rainier, (Tahoma), is jaw-droppingly stunning in its majestic rule over the horizon to the South East. How many folks come down Highway 162 for the first time (or 60th time) and have to pull over and just gawk at the grandeur, popping photos, and soaking it all in. They didn't know this was here, right down the road. So close, yet feels so far from worldly cares. The pressure of the daily grind can fall off their shoulders as they admire the world they've been given and give thanks for it.
The Community- oh the community! The small towns and cities of the valley are a sight for sore eyes, very reminiscent of Mayberry and all that entails. Traveling into Orting, you can see what is important to the community: Home, Family, School, and Wholesome surroundings.
Most of the businesses in the town are small and local. Many operated by families who have been here for generations. Streets are named after families that helped found the community. Parks are important and loved by both locals and visitors. Flower baskets hang on the corners. It is quaint, friendly, welcoming.
And the Farmers Market is there in the first main park in the heart of town on Friday evenings during most of the summer. It brings the community together. It supports the local small businesses. It provides very fresh local produce to those in attendance, as well as other food and gift ideas. It provides educational opportunities- all Free- to anyone who wants to learn. Entertainment and activities are offered each week. It is a welcoming front porch for the city on a Friday afternoon and evening.
Friends meet at the market to eat and shop and visit and relax. Visitors are greeted and encouraged to come back again or to take in another upcoming event.
The Market is about YOU. It is you that makes it a success. It is you that the market serves. It is you that cause people to say "What a neat place this is. I wish I had known about it earlier." It is you that makes it special. Thank you!
