This logo is one of the things we've been working on with several other markets in Pierce County. Orting Valley Farmers Market has been working with Tacoma, Proctor, Puyallup, Fife, Lakewood, Gig Harbor Waterfront, and Steilacoom farmers markets on a few projects as a result of a Farmers Market Promotion Program grant through the USDA. We applied for a grant last year and it came through in the Fall of 2015. Since then we've embarked on marketing the farmers markets and efforts to support the consumption of local products by local people.
Soon, you will notice advertisements on some County transit buses. You may see additional signage for farmers markets that utilize our new logo as well. We are hoping this helps to remind you to shop with us for local products each week, instead of buying products from Mexico, California, and beyond from big stores whenever possible.
We are also putting together great food demonstration "kits" to help show everyone how to prepare the foods found at a farmers market. We'll be producing short video clips of the markets as well, and information on how to use the token systems that markets have in place- including EBT use at markets. We want everyone to have access to fresh, local foods, regardless of income level.
Here are some other versions of the logo- look for them as the season progresses, and tell us where you saw the logo when you are out and about- shoot us a heads up on our Facebook page: Orting Valley Farmers Market (link on the website as well).
